Pet Waste and Leash Law Concerns in Forest Edge Cluster

6/11/2018

Dear Neighbors,

Several of you have brought problems concerning pets to the attention of the Board in the last few months.

Please be reminded that Fairfax County Leash Laws are in effect in our cluster.  When walking pets,  keep animals away from private gardens and children's play areas.  Dogs and cats must be inoculated against rabies by six months of age and should be licensed annually.

Fairfax County has an animal waste control ordinance,  commonly known as a "Pooper Scooper" law.  You must pick up after your pet,  even in wooded areas, and you are required to collect your plastic bags for disposal.  Leaving them on the grounds or parking areas is not an option.  Violation can result in fines by Fairfax County.

Direct all complaints about pets,  including requests to remove strange or strangely behaving animals to Fairfax County Fire,  Rescue and Animal Control at 703-691-2131.

We appreciate your full cooperation with these laws.
